Side Channel Blowers

A side channel blower transports air or gas by rotating a fan with many blades through a close narrow fitting pump house at high speed. The pressure in the channel is intensified by a turbulent stream in the radial channel. A side channel blower moves air or gas by rotating a multi-bladed fan at high speed through a tight-fitting pump housing. The pressure in the canal is increased by a turbulent flow in the radial canal. This process allows the side channel compressor to generate a large pressure difference between the inlet and outlet. Depending on the resistance of the system, the load on the drive increases with increasing build-up pressure. With this principle, the side channel blower can be used in a wide performance range with pressure differences of up to 700 mbar or 70 kPa.

Advantages of Side Channel Blowers

Side channel blowers have a well-known system that is used to transport different types of liquids. You can even compress large amounts of media for use in a variety of scenarios and needs. The simple design makes them affordable, and their non-contact configuration means they have parts that are prone to wear.

Modern side channel blowers are manufactured with integrated drives. They are then mounted on the electric motor, which allows the fan performance to be precisely adjusted to the operating requirements. Drives can be used as energy saving devices to reduce the speed of the blower to the lowest allowable frequency.

Side channel blowers can be used for these environments, which are labelled as Potentially Explosive Atmospheres. Electric drive motors can be replaced by non-sparking hydraulic motors. The modular accessories fitted with the blowers certify them for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. Air blowers would reduce noise with their use. This is achieved by installing a silencer at the outlet, making them efficient for applications where noise could be an issue.

Another positive property of side channel blowers would be the noise reduction during their use. This is achieved by installing a silencer at the outlet, making them efficient for applications where noise could be an issue.
